IKN work keeps going - Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), said that building the new capital city (IKN) Nusantara would continue according to the government's plan, even though the next general elections are coming up in 2024.

"Work on the project will go on. Hadimuljono said on Friday at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta that it has nothing to do with the election.

He also said that the government keeps assuring investors that the building of IKN Nusantara in East Kalimantan as a replacement for Jakarta is still on schedule.

Since the debate was first introduced, the government's work shows that the building of IKN is still ongoing. Even though there are some pros and cons, the development is still going on, and he emphasized that several building projects and government offices are currently being built.

"We still believe this will happen. With the Letter of Intent (LoI), there have been several investments," the minister said.

Hadimuljono has also checked up on some buyers with the help of the IKN Authority.

He said that the government already has a legal reason for the IKN Law and all other rules that come from it. So, investors should be confident about how long IKN growth will last.

A thorough spatial planning (RDTR) and land use map for IKN Nusantara in East Kalimantan Province was made public by the PUPR Ministry.

The map also shows how the central government core area (KIPP), which covers 6,600 hectares, looks in IKN.

He said that by the beginning of April 2023, the average level of physical development in IKN Nusantara had hit 25%.

He said that the ministry is currently building Central Government Core Areas (KIPP), which include the presidential office, presidential palace, offices for the four coordinating ministers, ministerial housing complexes, toll roads, arterial roads, dams, the national axis, Wastewater Treatment Plant (IPAL), waste treatment installations, drinking water treatment plants, and other infrastructure.

The government hopes that the event for Indonesia's Independence Day, which is on August 17, can be held at IKN Nusantara in August 2024.
